Division: Sharing or Grouping

I love math!  One of the big reasons I wanted to move back to 3rd grade is because I miss teaching math that goes beyond counting, addition and subtraction.  I miss teaching about multiplication and division.  It's one of the things I am most looking forward to when I move up to 3rd grade next year.  I created this task card sorting and solving activity that has to do with the types of division.  This is a fun game that the students can do that has them reading different division problems. Then they have to decide whether or not it is a sharing problem or a grouping problem.  Once they've sorted then they can solve the problems on a recording sheet.  Here's some pictures. I know it's too late to use this activity this year but I look forward to trying it next year.

My new TpT Store

I decided it was too difficult to sell both Kindergarten and 3rd grade materials at the same store.  My TpT store has always been very specialized- mostly Kindergarten materials- and I think all my followers are Kindergarten/1st grade teachers.  So, I felt like it was too difficult to try to branch out from that very specific niche I got myself into.  As a result, I've started a new TpT store called A Place in 3rd. I took apart the product I made and posted to my Kinder Karla store and made it a freebie called Scoring with Verbs.

Movin' on Up!

I know it's only March and I shouldn't be thinking about next year.  But, this Kindergarten teacher is moving up to 3rd grade next year!  I am excited about the change.  I used to teach 3rd grade many moons ago and I really enjoyed that age.  I've loved Kindergarten but it's time for a change.  So, goodbye to my old blog http://kinderkarla.blogspot.com and hello to A Place in 3rd.  It should be an exciting journey!
